In Conversation with Ace Assamese actor Rupam Chetia

Kaustab Chakraborty speaks to Rupam Chetia ,  Actor his journey so far and his experience with Rajat kamal winning director Janhu Barua.    Born and brought in a Khejurguri Village of jorhat, Assam. Actor Rupam chetia did his schooling in jorhat itself. Later came to guwahati to purse BA in Pol Science from B.Booruah College.
 Since his childhood his interest towards acting was spotted performing Bhawna from the age of 10. After his graduation he completed one year drama course under seagull theatre academy. And later he worked one year as actor for seagull repertory company. He has performed in various drama festivals of India as actor and light designer in Delhi,Mumbai,Bangalore,Mysore, Chennai,etc
 “My work was very much appreciated by baharul islam , Jahnu Barua and many other dignatories and I have worked in more than 15 dramas and around 10 Tv serials.” Says Rupam Chetia
 
Talking about his experience working as main lead in feature flim Ayejo which received eleven Prag Cine Awards nominations and won in two categories including Best Film and  It was also awarded as Best Feature Film in Assamese in 61st National Film Awards, directed by Padma Bhushan Awardee Jahnu Barua,
Rupam states, “Before the being casted in Ayejo, I always had a dream to work with Jahnu Sir, I never thought that my dream will be fulfilled so early. One fine day I was called to his office and I was offered the central character of his upcoming feature flim.”
 One thing I would like to say I have never seen such a well planned person in my life. He is very punctual and disciplined. He always used to reach set before time. Jahnu Sir explains the characters to the actors so well that you feel like your already in that situation, Actor Rupam Chetia maintains
   Rupam later adds “Jahnu Sir fully devotes himself to work throughout the process of shooting. He is very dedicated towards his work and knows exactly how to get best out of everybody.”
 Right now Rupam is working for television series and few of his upcoming dramas and he wish to work with Jahnu barua in future projects also.
