The cyber Crime also known as Computer crime and Cyber Activists and Hacktivist are now no more a new subject for the people in India. In Assam, there has been 450% rise in cyber crime in the year 2013. In the year 2015, the rise and impact of Cyber Crime may increase to double that of 2014 about 300,000. In the end of 2014, 15 numbers of websites of Assam were defaced by anonymous Hacktivist. In the terms of percentage increase of cyber crime cases, Assam is ranked second, after Uttrakhand among the states in the country. The rising popularity of social networking sites, e-commerce and e-marketing, there has been a phenomenon rise in defamation, threats and personal attacks made through social media, financial frauds and online cheating. The majorities of financial frauds in cyber space are mostly online banking frauds and credit/debit card frauds. “Phishing Attacks” of online banking accounts or cloning of ATM/Debit cards are common occurrences.
The Cyber Crime Awareness and Victim Counseling, Assam (CCAVAC) Is a registered Nongovernmental Organization and very 1st org. working on cyber crime and its consequences in the northeastern states. They might come under top 10 list of organization working on the Cyber crime in India. CCAVAC is building capacities for youths and imparting knowledge, focusing technical aspects and legal implication and structure behind cyber crime and cyber technology. To prevent him/her from being a victim of cyber crime
Their 1st priorities are students and youth followed by Government employee and Law enforcement agencies followed by corporate stake holders in concerned field. They are offering module expertly designed and implement as per target groups.
CCAVCA are practicing awareness Campaigns on cyber crime and its consequences focusing on legal implications, placing assistance for victim of cyber crimes as per law and psychological counseling of victims, providing IT Solutions and IT Literacy, they are even training and investigative support to agencies involved in the prevention , investigation and prosecution of cyber crime and those who seek assistance.

Social Networks/ Social Networking Sites, Commercial Sites and Government Sites are the major targets of those cyber crime activists. We CCAVAC want to create a secure cyber netizen society building capacities for youth to deal and prevent cyber crimes.”
CCAVAC are eventually providing free IT Education for all and for that they have been conducting seminars in schools and colleges, so that they get to knowledge about cyber crime and its prevention from a grassroots level.
